Soft Symbols: Emmi Whitehorse
(K-5th | 60 min)
In this mixed media art lesson, we will learn about Emmi Whitehorse, a contemporary abstract artist whose work is influenced by her Diné/Naabeehó (Navajo) heritage. Just like Whitehorse, we will draw inspiration from the natural world around us. Grab a variety of drawing materials, including tempera sticks, chalk pastel, crayons, colored pencils and a smidge of tempera paint and get ready to layer colors, shapes, and patterns into your art.
Each lesson comes with a step-by-step art video tutorial and downloadable lesson plan designed to make teaching easy and learning fun.
You get:
- A guided video to learn from and reteach or play directly for your artists
- A printable PDF with learning objectives, vocabulary, “I Can” statements, shoppable supply lists, teaching tips, and step-by-step process.
- National Art Standards alignment and fun facts to enrich every project
